Our industry has noticed over recent years that the demand for multi fuel stoves has significantly reduced as the demand for Wood Burning stoves has increased. This is largely due to the education and awareness of customers, and their need for climate friendly Stove types.

Multi fuel stoves, typically used to burn Coal or smokeless coke, per say don’t offer the high efficiency’s of modern wood Burning stoves, this coupled with the constant suggestion of ‘banning’ the burning of fossil fuels, makes the decision to buy a Multi- Fuel Stove a non viable project. Indeed... here at Fireplace Factory we will work tirelessly to convince all of our enquiring customers about the negative issues surrounding the purchase of a Multi Fuel Stove, and try hopefully to convince them that buying a Wood Burning Stove is the best way forward.

That said, there are a couple of stove exceptions to this generalisation, British manufacturer ‘Purevision’ offer a very good Mutli Fuel Stove which meets the Eco Design ready requirements, and is exceptional at Burning wood and very efficiently, so if you still have the desire to cover all fuel bases we can confidently recommend this Stove as being very much a Stove for the future, even if we see the burning of fossil fuels banned in this country.

As world climate change is starting to be more understood, the use of an open fire is more than likely going to be somewhat restricted in the coming years ahead.

While there is still demand in some property types for an open fire, we can advise the best option to suit all situations.

It would be prudent to point out a very important, and often misunderstood ruling with regard to the installation and operation of an open fire. Open fires can be installed in any home, in any area of the UK, however if your home is within a ‘smoke control zone’ you will not be able to burn wood or any other non smokeless fuel on the fire. Only approved smokeless fuels can be burned. Details of which can be found on the government DEFRA website.
